“And now concerning thy question regarding the soul of man and its survival after death. Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty.”
Emad Talisman, logistics coordinator of the Ottawa youth conference – held in mid-August, describes the capacities that the Ottawa Bahá’í community developed as a result of planning, participating in, or supporting youth to attend youth conferences and associated activities.
“O SON OF THE SUPREME! I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendor. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?”
The final four youth conferences called by the National Spiritual Assembly have now taken place, gathering approximately 150 youth in Waterloo, Ont., 165 in Ottawa, Ont., 330 in Vancouver, B.C, and 440 in Toronto, Ont.
For compelling personal reasons, Mr. Khumukcham Satish Meetei and Mr. Garth Pollock have asked to be relieved of their responsibilities as members of the Continental Boards of Counsellors in Asia and in the Americas, respectively.
The 38th annual Association for Bahá’í Studies-North America conference (ABS) – entitled “Scholarship and the Life of Society” and held from 7 to 10 August – included new experimental features as part of an effort to reimagine the conference in line with guidance from the Universal House of Justice last year.
The National Spiritual Assembly recently recommended that all friends refresh their study of the Universal House of Justice’s 2 March 2013 letter to the Bahá’ís of Iran “in light of the conflicts emerging in different parts of the world and their devastating consequences.”
Eight of the ten youth conferences called by the National Spiritual Assembly to take place across Canada this summer have been held in Halifax, N.S., Saskatoon, Sask., Victoria, B.C., Calgary, Alta., Montreal, Que., Waterloo, Ont., Kelowna and Vancouver, B.C. A youth conference in Ottawa, Ont. will take place this weekend, and a conference in Toronto will take place 22 to 24 August.
