The 239 Days website offers glimpses into the 239 Days ‘Abdu’l-Bahá spent in America.

In honour of the 100th anniversary of the passing of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, an updated version of the 239 Days in America website has been launched and is now available for those wishing to read more about the Master’s historic journey in 1912.

The website, originally launched in 2012 to commemorate the 100 years since ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s voyage, contains a story from each day of the 239 days of His journey, with an emphasis on His engagement with the discourses of the Progressive Era.

Starting with the page titled, “Day 1: ‘‘Abdu’l-Bahá Arrives in America,” readers are taken through the details of meetings, talks and route of the Master, as well as some historical circumstances surrounding the days of His visit.

Features of the revamped website include updated articles and new high-resolution photographs of buildings, streets, people, etc. to complement the context of each story. Users will now be able to access the site on most phones and tablets and can explore key themes through guided reading topics. Downloadable PDF versions of each story and also available for offline reading.

According to its mission statement, the 239 Days project hopes to offer “academic audiences and the general reader an always-current secondary source” of the Master’s travels in America. Currently, the project is in the process of adding footnotes for further information for each story as well as its sources.
