The National Spiritual Assembly provides some comments on the recent letter from the Universal House of Justice, dated 8 September 2015, regarding the commemoration of the Twin Holy Birthdays.
“Beloved friends, we hope that this report helpfully shares the ways in which the friends in Canada have traversed the vast terrain described in the first paragraph of the Ridván message.”
The members of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Canada were elected this past weekend at the 67th annual National Convention.
On 26 November, the Day of the Covenant, a new term of service began for Regional Bahá’í Councils in Canada. Referred to by the Universal House of Justice as a “new element of Bahá’í administration,” Councils are institutions “of a special kind,” brought into being by the Supreme Body to carry forward the teaching work and minister to the needs of a rapidly growing Bahá’í community.
Greg Johnson, who previously served on the Spiritual Assembly of Eskasoni and the Bahá’í Council of the Atlantic Provinces, passed away on 8 June.
The National Spiritual Assembly’s annual report makes use of words, statistics and pictures to describe the progress that has been achieved this year in the thematic areas of “Expansion and consolidation,” “Enhancing institutional capacity,” and “Involvement in the life of society.”
It was with great joy that the National Assembly approached this Convention, eager for the opportunity to consult with you who represent such a cross-section of the Bahá’í community, about the momentous developments of the past year.
