Dear Bahá’í Friends,
Further to our letters dated 9 March and 8 April 2021 regarding the new English translations of twenty-six prayers revealed by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, the Office of Correspondence at the Bahá’í World Centre has advised that the following changes have recently been made to the translations of two of the prayers:
- Prayer 1: a footnote has been added after the sentence that ends with “Thy sacred Threshold.”; the footnote says “Reference to the Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh.”
- Prayer 26: in couplet 2, the phrase “mine ardent goal” has been changed to “my loss and woe”; in couplet 3, the word “balm” has been changed to “friend”.
These changes have been made to the prayers on the Bahá’í Reference Library (https://www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/abdul-baha/prayers-abdul-baha/), and we have attached a corrected PDF version for your convenience.
With loving Bahá’í greetings,
Karen McKye, Secretary
