“Let the days in excess of the months be placed before the month of fasting. We have ordained that these, amid all nights and days, shall be the manifestations of the letter Há, and thus they have not been bounded by the limits of the year and its months.”
Abdu’l-Baha, in Some Answered Questions, shares the following account on the life of the Báb and how His teachings transformed society in the face of unimaginable opposition.
Bahá’u’lláh passed away in the early hours of 29 May 1892 at the Mansion of Bahjí.
Sunset on 23 May marked the anniversary of the declaration of the Báb. In this account recorded in The Dawn-breakers, Mullá Husayn describes his state on the evening when he first met the Báb and He declared His mission to him.
“As to the significance of that Declaration let Bahá’u’lláh Himself reveal to us its import …”
“During the twelve days that Bahá’u’lláh remained in the Garden of Ridván, great numbers came to pay their respects to Him …”
Sunset on 20 April marked the first day of Ridván. Here is a description of this time written by Adib Taherzadeh.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá passed away in the early hours of 28 November, 1921, at the age of 78.
In 1912, ‘Abdu’l-Baha, the Centre of the Covenant, made a 239 day journey across North America. The believers at the time wished to celebrate the day of His birth, which falls on the same day as the Declaration of the Báb (23 May, 1844). ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, instead, asked the believers to celebrate the Day of the Covenant , which is celebrated on 26 November.
